Along with the other volunteers at Ecoswell, I discovered a very different, wonderful side to Lobitos. One of the best things about the internship for me was being able to live here and meet the amazing people in the community, whilst also having some of THE BEST seafood I’ve ever tasted.

Impressed by the nature there, Piedritas was identified as a prime location for ecotourism. Together with its partners, EcoSwell is building hiking trails and an ecotourism center to have a sustainable impact on the community.

The Surfonomics study continued head-on through 2019 and in 2020 we first applied for the World Surfing Reserve status to improve the prestige, the protection status and the organization of the surfing economy at Lobitos.
